Cork flooring provides a resilient surface with natural cushioning, making it suitable for spaces where comfort and sound reduction are important.
Available in floating click-lock planks and glue-down tiles, cork products often include engineered cores and protective wear layers for improved durability. Surface finishes range from natural cork grain to stained and sealed options for a more uniform appearance. Some products include moisture-resistant coatings and stabilizing backing layers. It is commonly used in living areas, offices and bedrooms where a quieter and more comfortable surface is preferred.
For an eco-friendly home.
Naturally warm, naturally beautiful — and naturally renewable.
Nufloors offers two types of cork flooring — cork planks and cork tiles. Both bring natural warmth and eco-friendly attributes; not a single tree is cut down to make cork flooring.
Ideal Rooms
Entrance ways, hallways, kitchens and family rooms.
Benefits
- Naturally resistant – Cork is naturally resistant to invasive organisms, mold and mildew. One of the most hypoallergenic flooring options available.
- It's soft – A springy surface that's very comfortable for walking or standing for long periods — great for homes with small children or older family members.
- Easy to clean – Weekly sweep or vacuum (no beater bar) and a slightly damp mop every couple of weeks is really all that's needed.
Considerations
- Ages over time – Cork has distinctive natural colouring that ages and fades in direct sunlight or UV light. Use drapes or UV-protective windows.
- Use furniture pads – A cork floor may become permanently indented if furniture pads aren't used to disperse weight.
- Pet nails – Dog nails can scratch the surface if not regularly groomed.
- Shade variation – Cork is a natural material — no two planks are alike, which adds to its beauty.
Tips to think about.
Pre-work.
Depending on the existing floor, removal could be an additional expense. Depending on the condition of your sub-floor, additional prep may also be needed before your cork floor goes down.
Maintain humidity in your home
Cork floors are natural products. Use a humidifier or dehumidifier to regulate humidity and minimize expansion and contraction in regions affected by humidity. This will preserve your floor.
