Tips to think about.

Better Resistance

The more expensive sheet vinyl flooring will have better resistance to staining, scratches, gouges and tearing and offer better warranties. The higher quality vinyl floors also have improved styling and more textural realism.

The Wear Layer

The wear layer is the top and most important layer of a vinyl floor. A wear layer thickness can range between 6 and 40 mils and the thicker the wear layer, the more durable the floor will be.

Use Floor protectors

Use floor protectors on furniture to reduce indentation. The heavier the item, the wider the floor protector needed.

Pre Work

Depending on the existing floor covering, there could be an additional expense if removal of your old flooring is required. Also depending on the condition of your sub-floor, additional work may be needed.

Installed by us.

You’ll receive your Nufloors pre-installation guide which will outline everything you need to know regarding installation.

Paint

If you are planning to paint, wallpaper, or do any other remodeling in the room, try to do this before your flooring is installed.  Keep extra paint to allow for post-installation touchups.

Move Furniture

Who is moving the furniture?  Plan this in advance.  Ensure to remove all fragile items from the room.

Remove your existing Floor

Make sure you know who is removing your existing flooring.  Speak with [store_name] about this.

Check door clearances

Measure door clearances before you have your new flooring installed.  If the new flooring is thicker than your existing floor, your door bottoms may rub.  Plan in advance to have someone shave or saw each door so it does not drag.

Why is vinyl flooring also called "resilient flooring?"

“Resilient flooring” is a term used for vinyl flooring. The terms vinyl and resilient flooring are often used interchangeably.

Will my dog's nails scratch vinyl flooring?

Vinyl Flooring has a protective wear layer to help prevent scratches. The thicker the wear layer, the more protection you will have. Keep in mind though that no vinyl floor is 100% scratch proof. Try to keep the dog’s nails trimmed to help prevent scratches.

What does the thickness and the wear layer thickness mean?

Vinyl flooring is measured in two thicknesses: Total product and wear layer. Total product thickness, measured in millimeters, determines how well the vinyl hides subfloor imperfections. Total wear layer thickness, also measured in millimeters, determines the vinyl floors durability

Can I use rugs or mats on my vinyl floor?

Yes, if they are labeled “colourfast” by the manufacturer. Non-staining, polypropylene-backed mats or woven rugs are best. Not recommended is the use of rubber or latex-backed mats because the chemical (antioxidant) used to keep the backing from becoming brittle can permanently stain your floor.
