    Area Rugs Flooring

    Nufloors|Quinte

Area rugs provide a flexible way to add comfort and visual interest to interiors without a full renovation of existing flooring. They can help define spaces, soften hard surfaces or introduce texture into a room..

At Nufloors Quinte, we carry area rugs in a variety of sizes, materials and styles to suit different layouts. Our team will help you choose an option that complements your flooring and overall aesthetic. Adding an area rug is a simple way to refresh your space.

    The Nufloors Promise

    Your cozy statement piece.

Define a space, soften a room, and bring instant warmth underfoot.

Hand-knotted rugs are handmade, durable, full of detail, and designed to be passed down from generation to generation. The more knots per square inch the better (varies from 40 to 1200). Most of the cost is the labour involved and the materials used.

    Invest in the right fibre.

Each rug fibre brings its own personality — softness, durability, stain resistance and price. Use this guide to start narrowing down what feels right for the room.

    Wool

Sturdy pile, stain-resistant and durable. More expensive than other options.

    Cotton

Soft and strong fibres, generally found in flat weaves. Tend to wear out sooner and attract dirt easily.

    Silk

Fine, thin and very colourful. Silk rugs do not have a springy characteristic.

    Jute

Strong, durable and the softest natural fibre. More coarse than others and prone to stain.

    Sisal

Very durable and anti-static. Coarse and harder to clean.

    Seagrass

    Stain-resistant and durable.

    Nylon

Stain- and soil-resistant, easily cleaned and inexpensive. Don't hold as much value as natural fibres.

    Olefin

Inexpensive, water- and stain-resistant. Require more cleaning and show wear sooner than other rugs.

    Things to think about.

    Purpose.

Where will the rug be located, and what purpose will it serve? A focal point in a formal living room or somewhere people will sit while playing board games? This determines the rug type.

    Feeling

For a softer feel, natural fibres like wool and cotton are best. For a lush, deep pile, synthetic fibres work well. Organic fibres like jute and sisal can be soft underfoot but don't provide the same warmth as a woven rug.

    Placement

In a living room, the rug should go at least under the front legs of sofas and chairs, and run the same width or slightly longer than the sofa. In a dining room, centre the furniture over the rug and match the rug shape to the table. In a bedroom, the rug should extend beyond both sides of the bed.

    Rug pad

A quality rug pad prevents slipping and tripping, and protects the rug and floor. Buy a rug pad 1–2" smaller than your rug.
